Welcoming the first 100 Customers @ JhaJi Store
I started JhaJi Store in October of 2020 to bring Mithila's authentic taste to more people.
For over 3 decades, I have made and sent traditional pickles to friends and family living in New Delhi, New York and everywhere in between.
Last year, my son convinced me to extend this gesture to everyone who loves the Maithili taste and will cherish in his or her home.
In less than 3 weeks, more than hundred people have already bought pickles from the store. What's even more interesting is the love they have shared with us in comments and emails and phone calls.
Here're some of them displayed on our website:
There were a couple that really stood out.
I'm humbled seeing that people feel a connection back to their roots after tasting these pickles.I went through the pickles people chose. Two pickles in particular caught my attention.
1. लोकप्रिय : Oal (Suran) Achaar
Oal, or Suran, or Jimikand Pickle is a real favorite among the people of Mithila. And It is a fast favorite among the online shoppers too.
It's usually made into a curry, enjoyed with rice, and a few pieces of lemon.
Our pickle is tangy, fibrous, and uses little oil. It's made with equal quantities of Oal, Ginger, and Green Chilli. In Mithila, we also call this pickle Oal Barabar, due to the equal proportion of the three main ingredients.
2. छिपा रुस्तम: Amla Achaar
Not many people have discovered this pickle.Other than its amazing taste, the Amla is rich in vitamin C and is a natural immunity booster.
I am seeing a long-time dream realizing in the form of JhaJi Store.I spend every day in gratitude to you and everyone who has tried our pickles.
I feel stronger with you along with me in this journey. And I will like to create a way to always keep you right alongside me in this journey.Keep you updated on everything that's happening here in Mithila and at JhaJi Store. My son suggested that I can write to you an email newsletter every week. And I have decided to do it.
Every week, I will write a letter telling you stories.
I will also repurpose the stories for the blog on our website. But if you want to be the first one to hear the story, subscribing to the newsletter is the best way to stay ahead of the line.
