Wrapping Up July 2021 at JhaJi Store

We had a successful month in July.

Almost 6 times as many people ordered in July, compared to June.It has our whole team excited for the new month.

I think it's a good idea to introduce you to them this week.

And share a story on how your purchase is making a difference here in Mithila.

Before I introduce you to everyone, let me tell you about a small tradition we have here at JhaJi store.

At the end of the month, everyone on the team picks their favorite pickles from the month and takes them home for their families.

In the pictures below, you'll see each of our teammates with their favorite pickle from the month of July.

With this context, let me start right with the people who are closest to the pickles you enjoy.

Guddi Devi

She takes care of cutting and cleaning the ingredients in your pickles. Everything from Mangoes to Jimikand.

Guddi Devi's favorite Achaar is the Green Chilli Pickle

Raju

He is responsible for the taste you get in our pickles. He understands Masale like no other on our team.

Raju's favorite Achaar is Oal ka Achaar, that also goes by a more popular name here: 'बरोबर का अचार'.

Sanjay Sahni

Sanjay sees his job as helping the rest of the team with anything they may need. He works with Guddi Devi and Raju in production, as well as manages on-time dispatches.

His favorite achaar is the Mithila Special Mango.

Raju

He makes sure that your jars fill up right and that they are safely packed to reach you like without breaking or leaking.

Just like Sanjay, Manish loves the Mithila Special Mango too.

Guddi Devi

Mamta is my most trusted aide. She collaborates with me on pickle recipe, and then ensures cleanliness in the workspace and taste in the pickles.

Her favorite achaar is the Spicy Green Chilli pickle.

Raju

Govind is Mamta's 19 years old son. Everyone appreciates his youthful energy in the team. He lends a hand across business functions, from cutting ingredients to packaging.

The jar you see in his hand is Oal or Suran pickle. Or बरोबर का अचार.

I have a longer story to share about Mamta and Govind here.

I have known Mamta for over 3 years now. She was working as a household help at a relative's place in 2018.

That is when I first tasted Mamta's hand-made meals. They were absolutely delicious 😋 .

The relative also praised her for the love and care she worked.

So I know that I can trust her (and you can too 🙂 ).

When we decided to launch the JhaJi store last year, Mamta was the first person I selected for my team.

I believe that we can offer her a better opportunity than all the different jobs she was doing then.

Before joining at JhaJi Store, Mamta was able to make Rs. 6000, in a good month.

The pandemic hasn't treated her family well. Both her husband and her son lost jobs in Delhi and were unable to find work back here at home.

She was ecstatic when I told her about the plan.It required her to indulge in traditional pickle making. She could see her enjoying this work more than the household chores.

Plus, it promised to pay her more than all the money she was earning from the other jobs, put together.

So, she joined in, as my right-hand woman.

And one day, Mamta, brought Govind around to see where his mother was going to work every day.

He was inspired to see her mother work with so much passion.He learned more about the business that day and signed up for help.

Since then, Govind is also employed with us and helps with mixing masala, drying the pickles. In his free time, he enjoys lending a hand in packaging.

Together Mamta and Govind earned Rs. 18,000 for their family in July.

The money gives them much-needed security.

Knowing that it comes from their work to spread Mithila's culture around the country, makes them doubly proud.
